Chinese Skullcap Herb Georgi (Latin name: Chinese Skullcap Herb Georgi), another name for mountain tea root and Tujin tea root, is a perennial herb of Scutellaria in Labiatae; Fleshy rhizomes are plump, leaves are hard and papery, lanceolate to linear lanceolate, racemes are terminal on stems and branches, corolla purple, purplish red to blue, filaments are flat, style is slender, disk is annular, ovary is brown, nutlets are ovoid, and flowering and fruiting period is from July to September.

Perennial herbs; Rhizomes are plump, fleshy, up to 2 cm in diameter, elongated and branched. The stem base is buried on the ground, rising, 30 ~ 120 cm high, 2.5-3 mm in diameter at the base, blunt quadrangular, with fine stripes, nearly glabrous or upward curved to developing puberulent, green or purplish, with many branches from the base.  

The leaves are hard papery, lanceolate to linear lanceolate, 1.5 ~ 4.5 cm long and 0.5 ~ 1.2 cm wide, blunt at the top, round at the base, entire, dark green above, glabrous or sparsely adherent to the spreading puberulent, light below, glabrous or sparsely puberulent along the midvein, densely covered with sunken gland points, 4 pairs of lateral veins, sunken above and protruding below the midvein; Petiole short, 2 mm long, ventrally concave, dorsalis convex, puberulent.

Inflorescences are terminal on stems and branches, racemose, 7 ~ 15 cm long, and often gather into panicles at the top of stems; Pedicel 3 mm long, puberulent with inflorescence axis; The lower part of the bract is like a leaf, the upper part is far smaller, oval lanceolate to lanceolate, 4 ~ 11 mm long, nearly glabrous. The calyx is 4 mm long when flowering, the scutellum is 1.5 mm high, the outside is densely puberulent, the calyx margin is sparsely pilose, and the inner surface is glabrous. In fruit, the calyx is 5 mm long and has a scutellum 4 mm high. Corolla purple, purplish red to blue, 2.3-3 cm long, densely glandular pubescent on the outside, pubescent on the inside at the cystic swelling; The crown tube is obviously knee bent near the base, with a central diameter of 1.5 mm and a width of 6 mm to the throat; The crown and eaves are 2-lipped, the upper lip is helmet shaped, the apex is slightly deficient, the middle lobe of the lower lip is triangular oval, 7.5 mm wide, and the lobes on both sides close to the upper lip. Stamens 4, slightly exposed, anterior pair longer, with half drug, degeneration of half drug is not obvious, posterior pair shorter, with whole drug, locular fissure with white beard, back with vesicular hair; Filaments flat, anterior to medial below middle, posterior to slightly sparsely pilose on both sides. Style slender, apex acute, cleft. Ovary shortly annular, anterior, slightly enlarged by 75 mm. Ovary brown, glabrous.  

Nutlets ovoid, height 1.5 mm, diameter 1 mm, dark brown, tuberculate, ventral near base with navel. The flowering period is from July to August and the fruiting period is from August to September.
