Polygonum multiflorum propagation method

Sowing

Live broadcast is the main method, and seedlings can also be transplanted. Sow the seeds from early March to early April, with a row spacing of 30-35cm. After applying human and animal manure water, the seeds are evenly sown into the ditch, and the soil is covered with 3cm. The seedling height is 5cm, and the plant spacing is about 30cm.  

Cuttings

From early March to early April, select stems and vines with vigorous growth, robust and disease-free plants, and cut cuttings with a length of about 25cm. Each root should have about 3 nodes. The row spacing is 30-35cm, the plant spacing is about 30cm, the hole depth is about 20cm, and 2-3 strips are placed in each hole. Cover the soil tightly and apply human and animal manure.

Ramets

When the tuberous roots are harvested in autumn or before budding in spring, the sprouting tillers around the rhizosphere are selected, and the plants with well-growing stems and fibrous roots with bud eyes are selected.

Field management

1. Keep the field moist. During the growth period, attention should be paid to weeding, and topdressing with human and animal manure water once in May. The seedlings are about 30cm high, and bamboo poles or branches should be inserted for the growth of stems and vines. When the seedlings are poured in December, combined with removing dead vines, apply decomposed compost or soil fertilizer once, and cultivate soil in the rhizosphere.

2. Thinning and Dingmiao: When the seedling height is about 10 cm, thinning is too dense or weak. When the height of the seedlings is 15 cm, according to the plant spacing of 25-30 cm, the weak and weak are kept strong and the seedlings are fixed.

3. Fertilizer and water management: Polygonum multiflorum likes fertilizer. In addition to applying full-scale fertilizer, it is forced to apply light human and animal manure and urine water once in the seedling stage to facilitate the growth of seedlings. In May of the following year, the human feces and urine were applied topically, and water was poured after the application. From September to October, apply 15,000-22,500 kg of miscellaneous fertilizer or manure per hectare.

4. Set up the frame: When the seedling height is about 30 cm, insert the support to make the stem and vine grow upward, and prune the leaves in time to promote the vigorous growth of the plant.

5. Harvesting and storage: After germination in spring, when the plant is 20-30 cm high, harvest tender stems and leaves once or in stages. The tuberous roots can be harvested after 3-4 years of the plant, harvested in autumn, and eaten fresh or sliced and sun-dried. The stems and vines of Polygonum multiflorum are cut off when they fall leaves in the second year after planting, the twigs and residual leaves are removed, and the stems are cut into lengths of about 70 cm, bundled into a handle, and dried in the sun to use as medicine.

Pest control

The diseases of Polygonum multiflorum are mainly leaf spot and root rot. 50% thiophanate WP 800 times, 50% carbendazim WP 800-1000 times or Bordeaux mixture (0.5:0.5:150) can be used to control leaf spot. 800-1000 times of 70% thiophanate WP or 1500 times of 75% chlorothalonil spray the stem base, which has a certain preventive effect on root rot.
