Root growth: Chinese Skullcap Herb Georgi is a straight root. The taproot grows normally in the first three years. The length, thickness, fresh weight and dry weight of its taproot increase year by year, and the content of Baicalin in the taproot is high. After the fourth year, the growth rate began to slow down, and some taproots began to wither, which increased year by year. Almost all taproots and thicker lateral roots of eight-year-old Chinese Skullcap Herb Georgi withered, and the content of baicalin also decreased significantly.

Stem and leaf growth: after emergence, the main stem gradually grows tall, the number of leaves gradually increases, and then branches are formed, buds appear, flowering and fruiting. The stem and leaf grow for a long time from May to June. The main stem of annual Chinese Skullcap Herb Georgi can grow about 30 pairs of leaves, of which the first five pairs of leaves grow 1 pair every 4-6 days, and then the leaves grow 1 pair every 2-3 days.

Flowering and fruiting: annual plants generally begin to bud 2 months after emergence, biennial and later Chinese Skullcap Herb Georgi begin to bud 70 ~ 80 days after emergence, bloom about 10 days after emergence, and the fruit begins to mature about 40 days. Born on sunny grass slopes and fallow wastelands, with an altitude of 60 ~ 1300 (1700 ~ 2000) meters.

Chinese Skullcap Herb is wild in sunny and dry places such as mountaintop, hillside, forest edge and roadside. It is warm and cold resistant. The underground part of adult plants can survive the winter safely under the low temperature of - 35 ℃, and the high temperature of 35 ℃ will not cause death, but it can not withstand the continuous high temperature weather above 40 ℃. Drought tolerance, fear of waterlogging, excessive ponding or rain in the ground, poor growth, serious root rot and death. Land with poor drainage should not be planted. The soil is loam and sandy soil, and the pH is neutral and slightly alkaline. Continuous cropping is prohibited.

Chinese Skullcap Herb is mainly distributed in Shandong, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Gansu, including Nanfan Town, Jiang County, Shanxi, Yaofeng Town, Xia County, Yuncheng City, Wan'an Town, Wanrong county and Xuedian Town, Wenxi County; Shangluo, Shaanxi, Qiaonan Town, Linwei District, Weinan, Xiaoyi Town, Shangzhou District, Shangzhou City, Jingcun Town, Luonan County, Dihua Town, Danfeng County, Yecun Town, Shangluo City, Shang Town, Danfeng County, etc; Shandong Yimeng mountain area, Kushan township of Ju county, Chakou town of Laiwu City, fuguanzhuang Township and other places; Gansu mainly produces Longxi, Weiyuan and Zhang counties, and secondary produces Minxian, Dangchang, Hexi and other places.

Wild

Chinese Skullcap Herb Georgi is mainly distributed in most of the three provinces in central and Eastern Inner Mongolia and Northeast China, Chengde in Hebei and Chifeng in Inner Mongolia. It is one of the main producing areas of wild traditional Chinese medicine in northern China.
